The Cake Poker client software is very simple and easy to navigate. The main lobby keeps players informed of upcoming freerolls, and other major events as well as the next 3 upcoming tournaments. Players can then choose between Ring Games and Tournaments from the tabs located at the top of the window and then choose from the several types of games offered.
Instead of the usual avatars, Cake Poker uses 3D images of photographed actors to give the table a more realistic feel. You can also quickly resize the table using the Quick Resize option to the minimum size in order to play multiple tables, however the software does not allow a full size view.
The software does suffer a bit of lag however and when you join a table it can sometimes take up to a few seconds for everything to load. This is expected to be fixed in an upcoming software update.

As is common with every new online poker site running on an independent network the traffic base is still relatively small. With that being said the traffic has been steadily increasing over the past few years. Currently the average number of ring game players hovers around 2,000 and is largely concentrated in the Hold 'Em and Omaha tables.
The tournament traffic is also very decent with approximately 3k-4k players connected during peak hours. The $1M freeroll also attracts a significant amount of players.

| Currently Cake Poker only offers Texas Hold 'Em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi-Lo. The games are offered in fixed limit, pot limit and no limit formats. Cake Poker is expected to add more games, namely Horse and Razz, in the coming years. |

The rake at Cake Poker is based on the number of players. For pot limit and no limit games the max rake is $1 for games up to $10/$20 and a max of $5 for the higher stakes $25/$50 games. This makes it very attractive for low stakes players. Cake Poker also abides by the 'no flop, no drop' policy |

 |
| The ring game competition at Cake Poker is very loose. With an average Players/Flop of 60% and sometimes as high as 80% in the low limit games and low 40% in the higher $1/2, $2/4 games. |
